Raven Symone, made famous by the Disney Channel, came out as gay on Twitter. The actress is singing a new song of freedom since revealing the truth. Perhaps her latest announcement will end all of those pesky baby rumors, as her official Wikipedia page now lists the actress as single and without children.
While much speculation has been made about the sexuality of Raven Symone in the past, the child actress has never officially come out. Of course, that was until yesterday when Symone decided to make it official.
Raven chose an unusual method for delivering the news to friends and fans, alike. She made the announcement via Twitter, the wildly popular social networking site, to her nearly 500,000 followers.
The statement was met with praise and support from her fans, who tweeted the celebrity congratulatory messages all day.
And Symone deserves credit. For a long time, she handled rumors and speculations in a classy (yet, indirect) manner. Back in 2012, The National Inquirer wrote a story implying that Symone was a lesbian because she was living with another female celebrity who was a lesbian.
Symone responded to their article thusly:
"My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I'm dating to know. I'm not one for a public display of my life."
I suppose Raven had a change of heart, because on August 2, she announced that, "I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you." The actress wasn’t done, either. She went on to clarify these statements by saying:
"I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted. I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to."
