Nick Cannon, host of the popular show AGT, is now trying to help Amanda Bynes. While many feel that Bynes is on drugs, it appears that she is suffering from a mental health condition, presumably schizophrenia. The actress has been institutionalized since starting a fire in a driveway.
It's no secret that Amanda Bynes needs a little help. The actress was admitted to a psych ward last week for starting a fire in a stranger’s driveway and is currently on meds for schizophrenia. Bynes’ parents continue to seek conservatorship while "brother" Nick Cannon is also trying the save his struggling "sister."
Nick Cannon has known Amanda Bynes a long time. The super successful Cannon and the out-of-her-mind Bynes, worked together on the 90s hit Nickelodeon show All That.
It's interesting to note the contrast in the career paths of both former child stars. While Nick was actually 17 when he got his first professional gig, the two almost represent dual sides of the same coin.
Where Cannon's toss may have came up heads, the actor/musician can clearly see how easy it is to land on tails.
In an open letter on his website, Cannon offers some insider insight on what happened to Bynes:
"Imagine being the breadwinner in your household before you can even drive. Imagine you parents, teachers, and employers NEVER telling you NO. Anything you ask for or want, the world gives you, at some point you are bound to self-destruct. I call this “access to excess". I’ve seen it happen to many of my friends and colleagues young and old."
Cannon continued:
"When there is no balance in your life a person will always become victim to their reality or lack thereof. The question is, when this destruction occurs, who is there to help put back the pieces. What do you do when you have no solid support system? When you feel like your friends are talking behind your back. ..When you feel your family has turned your back on you. When you feel like you parents have a conditional appreciation for you and only really love your money. You find yourself alone in that dark hole."
Nick then address his former co-star directly:
"So I say to my sister Amanda Bynes you're not alone. I'm here for you. I understand. I care and I appreciate you, because that's what family does and that's what family is for. I also extend this to anyone else in my life, past or present that may find themselves in hard times. I'm here! Call me!"
Speaking of family. TMZ reports that Bynes parents are continuing to seek conservatorship, despite rumors to the contrary. Even though Doctors are saying that Amanda is responding well to medication, they feel she is unlikely to keep taking her meds if left up to her.
