Lady Gaga has once again made news on Twitter. The singer announced a new single would be released from her upcoming 2013 album, ARTPOP. The star provided download info and some of the lyrics to her first song “Applause” in an update to her Twitter.
Gaga, who is known for making a splash on social networking sites, has over 40 million followers. Today, she announced to all of them, the upcoming release date for her new single, called “Applause:”
"The single 'Applause' and it's MUSIC VIDEO will BOTH debut on same day. ARTPOP. 8/19.”
She also teased a few of the lyrics, tweeting, “Give me that thing that I love/ Put your hands up make 'em touch/ A-P-P-L-A-U-S-E."
Then, the controversial (and very rich) Gaga told her fans how they could get their little monster hands on her new music:
"The ARTPOP app is Free, available in App Stores on your device. You can purchase the music through the ARTPOP app once it's downloaded. Or you can purchase the album at the music store+download the free app separately at the app store.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Gaga broke some music news via social media. In fact, the first real album release info she offered was through Facebook, where she told fans that:
“Built by TechHAUS, the technological branch of HAUS OF GAGA, the app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion, and technology with a new worldwide community — ‘the auras.’ Altering the human experience with social media, we bring ARTCulture into POP in a reverse Warholian expedition.”
Before this announcement, one had to look towards German DJ Zedd, who will be producing some of the tracks. He told the press that:
"I'm really, really excited for people to hear what we came up with. I just really can't imagine they would not like it, to just say it straight up. I think the stuff we've made is pretty f--cking cool. It's amazing, because does not have to please anyone, and she is who she is. Her first idea of how we should approach the music was just to be completely open--nothing is too crazy. Whatever is dope is dope. We do whatever we want, and we don't have to make a song that's three minutes and 30 seconds just to fit the radio."
