'The Canyon’s' Lindsay Lohan News Update: Not Leaving Rehab, Serious about Recovery [UPDATE]

Lindsay Lohan, star of The Canyons, is not going to be leaving rehab, at least not tomorrow. The troubled actress has decided to take her doctors' advice and extend her stay by a few days before guest hosting Chelsea Lately. Breaking News Update: Lohan Serious About Recovery.

Lohan, who was sentenced to undergo treatment earlier this year, is scheduled to fulfill that obligation on Wednesday. Even though the starlet will be officially free tomorrow, she has elected to continue treatment for a reported three to four days.

Rehab wasn't always such a warm and cozy place for Lohan. Her stint started off pretty rough and she had to be moved from the Betty Ford Center to Cliffside in Malibu, because the star felt she wasn't receiving the help she needed.

Doctors urged her to stay in treatment and it appears that Lohan listened. Lindsay wants to transition to a "lower level, sober living house" before she steps back into the real world full of temptation.

The former Disney star seems determined to turn her life around. TMZ reports that a trusted source close to Lohan is "shocked" at how serious she is about her recovery:

"It's like invasion of the body snatchers, she's like a different person."

She even plans to cut off contact with 80% of her "friends" who have a negative influence over her.

Lohan isn't leaving any time for idle hands. She already has a full schedule set for after her release, including a tell-all interview with Oprah and an eight part reality show on Winfrey's OWN Network.

That's just the beginning. The 29-year-old's latest film, Bret Easton Ellis’ The Canyons comes out via video on demand services this Friday.

Lohan will fill in for Chelsea Handler on August 5 as Guest host of her late night talk show on E!
