Former Celebrity Scientologist Leah Remini Leaves Church, Kirstie Alley Comments Between Bites [UPDATE]

Former celebrity Scientologist Leah Remini commented today about her decision to leave the church. Kirstie Alley took time to address claims that she was harassing Remini, in between bites. We’ve got the scandalous update.

Leah Remini, the 43-year-old actress, made a very public split from the Church of Scientology earlier this month. Since then, she has remained fairly tight lipped about leaving the secretive (and highly litigious) organization. Remini’s sister, however, has not been so quiet.

Over the weekend, the starlet broke her silence while attending a red carpet event. The former King of Queens actress told the press:

“I believe that people should be able to question things. I believe that people should value family and value friendships and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me--that's what I'm about. It wouldn't matter what it was, simply because no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to.”

Now, the Church of Scientology has decided to speak up against the former member, telling the press that, “The Church respects the privacy of parishioners and has no comment about any individual Church member.”

The COS isn’t the only one speaking up for themselves. Kirstie Alley is also defending herself from criticism, after a series of troubling tweets. Alley tells followers that the media is to blame:

“lying news outlets. I do NOT care what religions ANYONE is or isn't."

Luckily, Remini is not alone in her struggle. She tells the press that “we stand united, my family and I, and I think that says a lot about who we are, and what we're about.”
