Tom Brady has been the golden boy for the NFL since he became a starter for the New England Patriots in 2001. For the first time in his illustrious career, the 4-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback is under some real scrutiny. The NFL is facing the task of a possible suspension for Brady, because of his supposed involvement in deflategate.
Deflategate is the term being used for the Wells' investigation into the deflating of air from game-used footballs, which may have given the Patriots and Brady an edge. However, the Patriots and Tom have denied any knowledge of such actions taking place.
Not only has the Wells Report cast a guilty shadow on Brady, it also involves other Patriot personnel. Forbes tells of the Wells reports findings:
'"Deflategate has concluded that 'it is more probable than not' that Patriots locker room attendant Jim McNally and Patriots equipment assistant John Jastremski deliberately released air from footballs after the balls were examined by the referees. The report also concludes that 'it is more probable than not' that Brady 'was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of McNally and Jastremski.'
The length of suspension for Brady will be a hot topic of discussion, as the NFL has been busy the past few years with discipline and suspensions. Some too lenient, others too strong. The NFL has to get it right with this one.
NBC Sports Pro Football Talk understands the sentiment regarding Brady at the moment:
"Estimates of the length of the suspension have been all over the map, but a suspension of any length would make Brady the highest-profile player ever to receive such a punishment. Brady is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and perhaps the league's biggest star. And the NFL apparently plans to open the 2015 season without him."
