Three days after his birth, the royal baby watch is still in full swing. Some pretty important family members have come to visit Princess Kate’s new boy--specifically Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry.
While the Queen did promptly meet her third great-grandchild, their introduction did not occur at the hospital, as some media outlets predicted. Queen Elizabeth decided to wait until the couple had a good night’s sleep first.
Prince William and Kate are staying in a temporary two-bedroom cottage at Kensington Palace. Their future home, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace needs major repairs. The space hasn’t been renovated since it’s last inhabitant--the Queen’s sister, Margaret, which was back in the ‘60s.
It has also been confirmed by a spokesman for the couple, that Prince Harry has taken time to visit his first nephew. They met earlier in the week.
For everyone else, however, it’s back to life as normal. The queen has left her castle and is heading back to Scotland. She vacations at her private estate there and will often stay for the entire season.
She originally joked to reporters that she would not be able to meet the new child for quite some time, because she could not interrupt her holiday. This would have been highly unlikely, as ABC News reports:
“The birth of Prince William and Kate's first child marks the first time in almost 120 years that a reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth, 87, is alive at the same time as three generations of heirs: Prince Charles, 64, Prince William and, now, the latest addition to the family.”
