Tonight ABC airs the second to last episode of Castle Season 7. It is unknown if the show will be renewed or canceled, meaning that this week’s episode could be the penultimate episode of the entire series. Former Firefly star Nathan Fillion has reportedly agreed to come back for Season 8, however, Beckett actress Stana Katic has yet to resign.
Tonight’s all new episode of Castle takes on Saturday Night Live, with the aptly titled episode, "Dead from New York." The official plot synopsis for this week’s episode, reads:
“The creator of a sketch-comedy show is murdered, and the investigation yields a surprising secret. Carly Rae Jepsen guest stars as herself.”
Their might not be too many episodes of Castle left. Stana Katic has reportedly not yet signed a contract for Season 8.
Stana Katic, spoke to TV Line last year about if she will return or not:
“Well, I think it really depends on…. I don’t think that a show should overstay its welcome….If the character is complete, if there is nowhere else to go creatively, then I think it’s better to stop when you’re on top, because I admire the way that they did that with The Wire, you know? Tell a great story and then go home and move onto something else. Don’t milk it ‘just because.’ So for me it’s about art over finance, and as long as we’re creating something that is compelling and that has somewhere to go, then we’re good to go. And when we find that we’re not, when we don’t have anywhere else to go, then it’s time for everyone to pack up and move onto the next thing. But I don’t know where it’s going to end.”
TVLine is also reporting that creator Andrew W. Marlowe, executive producer Terri Edda Miller and showrunner David Amann will also be leaving at the end of Season 7./
Be sure to check to out the all new episode Castle, tonight at 10:00 p.m. eastern on ABC.
