Karen Gillan has made headlines around the world for showing off her new bald head at the San Diego Comic-Con. The big reveal came during her participation in the NTSF:SD:SUV panel. So, why did the actress shave down? She will be appearing in the upcoming (and much hyped) Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Karen Gillan can be called a number of things--beautiful, talented, funny--but one thing she can never be called is uncommitted. The actress proved that point during the San Diego Comic-Con when she removed her wig to reveal a totally shaved head.
When the actress first entered the panel, she was sporting her traditional red locks...or someone’s traditional red locks...as she was wearing a wig.
Gillan revealed her new look when a fan asked if she was playing the evil Nebula in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film. In true Comic-Con fashion, the fan knew every detail of the back-story...including the fact that Nebula was known for being bald.
A good humored (and well prepared) Karen removed her wig to reveal a freshly shaven head, telling the interviewee that she “may have done something crazy.”
The entire room erupted into applause for her brave decision, right before Gillan tossed her wig into the audience. A bit embarrassed, she then had to ask for the wig back as she needed it for the rest of the day.
Gillan, who is also known for her role on the highly popular Dr. Who series, seemed to be in good spirits, despite her recent hair loss.
