Helen Mirren, sweetheart of the film industry, recently offered advice to daughters everywhere. The actress went on to guess at the royal baby name while promoting her upcoming flick, Red 2. The film also stars heavyweights like Bruce Willis and John Malkovich.
At a press junket for Red 2, everyone’s favorite dame, Helen Mirren, offered up some pretty sound advice to reporters. In a refreshing twist, the Hollywood actress didn’t spend the entire time talking about how epic her new movie was but, rather, discussed how she would raise a daughter if she had one. She went on to tell the reporters that:
“If I’d had children and had a girl, the first words I would have taught her would have been ‘f*** off’ because we weren’t brought up ever to say that to anyone, were we? And it’s quite valuable to have the courage and the confidence to say, ‘No, f*** off, leave me alone, thank you very much.’ You see, I couldn’t help saying ‘Thank you very much,’ I just couldn’t help myself.”
Whoa! That’s not very ladylike at all...which is one of the numerous reasons we love the accredited actress. Another reason, perhaps, is for her amazing portrayal as Queen Elizabeth in The Queen.
Sometimes reality and art cross paths. Today, this is especially true as Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, has entered into the early stages of childbirth. Mrs. Mirren had a few words about this too, joining the ranks of numerous others who are speculating as to the new child’s name. She told reporters that:
''It would be nice to have one of those ancient, Anglo-Saxon names. If the baby is a girl we know her second name will be Elizabeth without a doubt. I was going to go with a boy. But another queen, that's good. I think that's great! We need more queens now.''
