HBO John Oliver Endorses Dr. Oz Columbia University Termination [TV SHOW NEWS]

Since making his way over to HBO from Jon Stewart's Daily Show, British comedian, John Oliver, has been relentless in his takedowns of political figures and manipulators, but last week the 38-year-old decided it was time, oce again, to take a swing at one of Oprah's scared cows, Dr. Mehmet Oz. According to the latest gossip news updates, several of the talk show host' peers are demanding he resign from his post at Columbia University, but the Last Week Tonight host would rather the 54-year-old cardiothoracic surgeon quit peddling "horsesh*t dressed up as medicine" on his day time TV show all together. Interestingly, more than a 1000 doctors the world over have made it clear at this point that they also feel Oz' presence on the medical board of such a prestigious Ivy League university is wholly inappropriate.

Sure, doctor turned TV show host, Mehmet Oz, has been under severe scrutiny ever since a British Medical Journal study controversially revealed that 54 percent of the doc's televised recommendation could NOT be backed up by modern science, but it really hadn't hit the fan for the Oprah's pet quack until John Oliver took the would be medical celebrity to task on his scathing HBO political news program, Last Week Tonight.

In Sunday night's closing segment, Oliver explained that not only was the Oz the worst celebrity medical professional since Dr. Jekyll started covering up the murders of Mr. Hyde, Mehmet's trying to hide behind the First Amendment's freedom of speech was absolutely as shameful as it was ignorant (via Daily Beast):

"You are the worst person in scrubs who has ever been on television -- and I'm including Katherine Heigl in that.

"The First Amendment protects Americans against government censorship, and that's it.

"It says something that even when you do a show with seven fake models of human feces, the biggest piece of sh8t on the stage has his name in the title."

While it's doubtful that they all used such colorful language in giving their opinion, Fox News, is reporting that one new study shows that the vast majority of his fellow doctors -- once polled -- also agree that Dr. Oz has no busy being associated with Columbia University in anything but the past tense:

"Of the 1,300 doctors who responded by 4 p.m. ET today (April 24) to a poll conducted by SERMO, a social network for doctors, 735 doctors (57 percent) said Oz should resign from his faculty position at Columbia. Fifty doctors (4 percent) said Oz should have his medical license revoked.

"And another 280 doctors (22 percent) said Oz should both resign from his position and have his license taken away."

Despite John Oliver's rage, Oprah Winfrey nor her partners at Sony Entertainment have given any indication whatsoever that they intend to pull The Dr. Oz Show from the air at this time or in any immediate future
