Petition To Ban Anime Because it Makes People "Fat, Lazy & Sexual Perverts"

A Change.org petition has been started, calling on the UN to ban Anime. The round robin petition is denouncing the “evils” of anime which they claim makes people fat, lazy, anti-social and “encourages sexual perversion.”

The Change.org petition to ban anime, claiming it makes people lazy and unemployed:

“Anime encourages young people to be lazy. The term NEET, meaning ‘not in education, employment, or training,’ is used primarily by anime/manga otaku (fans), who hold it as a glorious lifestyle.”

The petition also goes on to bash the hygiene of anime fans, adding:

“One need only to go to an anime convention to see it. Most of the people present are overweight, smell as if they haven't showered in a long time, or both.”

Another biting criticism of anime is its anti-social aspects, as the petitions continues:

“Many anime fans, instead of pursuing real relationships, are encouraged by anime to have a ‘waifu’ or ‘husbando,’ an anime character they have romantic feelings for, to substitute a real person.”

If you are not convinced of the “evils” of anime now, just wait until you read what the petitioners have to say about the sexual perversions that anime can cause:

“Anime fans often develop strange sexual perversions and fetishes thanks to anime and related material. Fans of the vertical shooter game Touhou Project have shown a fetish for armpits thanks to the protagonist's design. Thanks to anime-type material such as the visual novel Monster Girl Quest and the Monster Girl Encyclopedia, ‘teraphilia,’ or a fetish for monsters, has come into existence.”

What do you think about the petition? Do you think anime is harmful society? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

At the time of publishing the Change.org petition had 117 signatures.
