Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes Post Baby Update: New Makeup Deal, 'Lost River'

Time for another update in the lives of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, following the birth of their first child, Esmeralda. Eva recently signed a new deal with a major makeup company. Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, the widely-panned Lost River, is drawing a lot of comparisons to the city of Detroit.

It's no secret that Eva Mendes is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. And now a major makeup line has hired the first time mom to be the face of their company.

According to Yahoo News, Eva is now the cover girl for esteemed makeup line Estee Lauder. Mendes recently praised the company, telling fans that she has always been a fan of the makeup juggernaut:

"Since my teenage years, I have always admired Estée Lauder, the woman and the brand...I'm excited to represent New Dimension skincare because I can relate personally to what it stands for -- the power we have as women to take control and transform our own beauty."

Eva's not the only parent making headlines this week.

Her hunky heartthrob and baby daddy, Ryan Gosling, is also generating some buzz, himself.

When he's not busy taking off his shirt and starring in a million pro-feminism meme's, the actor is trying his hand at writing and directing.

Gosling's first attempt is a small film called Lost River. Although the film was universally panned when it debuted at Cannes, Julie Hinds of the Detroit Free Press explains to readers that portraying a Detroit-like environment on film isn't always easy:

"Putting any vision of Detroit on film is enough to provoke instant criticism. Focus too much on the bleakness and you're bashing a city on the rebound. Stick to the positives and you're ignoring real problems that exist and real people who are hurting...Ryan Gosling brings fresh eyes and a beyond-gonzo approach to this conundrum with Lost River, which opens Friday at Cinema Detroit."

What do you think about the latest reports? Are you excited for Ryan's latest film? Do you think it was unfairly bashed by critics?
