A media frenzy has erupted over Leah Remini's recent split with the Church of Scientology. Leah's sister, Nicole Remini, commented to a radio station about her sister's involvement with the organization. Nicole felt that Leah left the church because she questioned how close Tom Cruise and David Miscavige were, calling the relationship "weird."
The interview, which was conducted on a Twin Cities radio station, was filled with shocking accusations, but mostly it was a defense of her sister's involvement. As previous reports indicate, Leah's trouble with the organization began when she asked David Miscavige where his wife Shelly was:
"She's been curious for years. 'Where the h--- is [Shelly]?' This is all Leah asked, and this is what it's turned into?"
Nicole was clearly referencing the vicious attacks Leah has been subjected too, since her publicized fallout with the religion. Most notably, Nicole alleged that Kirstie Alley has organized a protest against her sister, telling the radio station:
"Kirstie organized a gathering of people at Melinda [Brownstone]'s house and was tweeting about it. What kind of bully does that? There's nothing about allowing people to hang on to their own integrity in this. When you're saying it's either Leah or us, there's no integrity in that. When you're threatening people with all they know, there's no integrity in that."
Since Leah's split, numerous celebrities have come to her defense...including Jennifer Lopez. The biggest star to come to her defense was Howard Stern, who invited Remini to come on his morning talk show.
No word yet on whether Leah will be taking the host up on his invitation.
