Randy Travis, who was close to death last week, recently got some more bad news. It turns out his brother, David Traywick, was arrested for making crystal meth.
It seems heart disease isn't the only thing that runs in the Travis family. While country star Randy Travis recovers from brain surgery, his younger brother has been breaking bad.
Travis' little brother David Traywick, has been arrested along with his wife and two other women for allegedly trafficking meth.
Authorities arrested Traywick earlier this week after being tipped off that that he was cooking and selling meth out of his home in Marshvile, N.C.
This isn't Traywick first dance with the drug. The 50-year-old is currently facing a previous methamphetamine related charge, as well.
A search of Traywick's home uncovered a small, unsophisticated operation:
"It was more like a one-pot meth lab, like something some of these folks do in cars driving down the road, But it's still dangerous," said Union County Sheriff's Office's Captain Ronnie Whitaker.
David and his wife Jessica were unable to post either one of their $500,000 bonds and remain in police custody. The country cook might wanna make himself comfortable, because he may be facing up to 18 years in prison.
Unlike his older brother, David never really made it out of Marshville, where the two grew up, along with four other siblings.
Randy Travis, real name Randy Traywick, shot to fame in the 80s with a string of chart topping hits: "Forever and Ever Amen" and "Three Wooden Crosses" to name a few. Travis was recently hospitalized due to complications associated with viral cardiomyopathy, from which he suffered a stroke last week and had to undergo emergency surgery to reduce swelling to his brain. The singer is now in recovery where he is being weaned off of a ventilator.
The 54-year-old singer, songwriter and actor has accomplished a great deal during his life. Some career highlights include: Six Grammys, six Country Music Awards, nine ACMs, ten AMAs and seven Dove Awards.
Despite his successes , Travis and Traywick are still very much alike. Travis has struggled with sobriety in the past. The singer/songwriter has nearly as many DUIs as he does Grammys. Last year, he was arrested for getting into a fight in a church parking lot.
It appeared that Randy was turning his life around, after having undergone court-ordered alcohol treatment in order to avoid a six month jail sentence...maybe his brother will follow suit.
