‘Batman v Superman’ Ben Affleck Opens Up About PBS ‘Finding Your Roots’ Slave Owner Edit

Earlier in the week it was revealed that Ben Affleck had asked PBS’ Finding Your Roots host Henry Louis Gates Jr, A.K.A. Skip, to edit out the fact that one of his ancestors was a slave owner. The news came out during after an email leaked from the Sony hack. Now, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star, is opening up about the controversy.

Ben Affleck has now opened up at the controversial move on Facebook, writing:

“After an exhaustive search of my ancestry for "Finding Your Roots," it was discovered that one of my distant relatives was an owner of slaves.

“I didn't want any television show about my family to include a guy who owned slaves. I was embarrassed. The very thought left a bad taste in my mouth.”
