Cory Monteith, former star of Glee, has been found dead. The 31 year-old-actor, who portrayed Finn Hudson on the hit FOX show, may have died from a potential drug overdose. A director of the series responds to today's shocking revelations.
Cory was discovered dead by the staff of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada. The staff was sent to check on Mr. Monteith after he missed his checkout time.
While the Vancouver police could not immediately determine the cause of death, they could verify that it was not foul play.
Doug LePard, acting Chief Constable, briefly spoke to press. He revealed that while Mr. Monteith had guests over earlier in the night, he returned to his room alone in the early hours of the morning.
Cory had been at the hotel for a week prior. CNN caught up with Adam Shankman, a guest director on Glee, to catch his thoughts:
“Adam Shankman, who directed an episode for each of the past three seasons, told CNN's Poppy Harlow that he had talked to Monteith on Saturday morning. The actor said he wanted to come down to California to Jet Ski. Shankman said Monteith was the glue of Glee. He was always welcoming, whether it was to a guest director or a new cast member. The actor knew all of his lines when filming began each time and would congratulate his fellow cast members when he thought they did well.”
Cory has long battled with substance abuse, leading many to believe this was the reason for his death. In many interviews, Cory revealed that he has been struggling with alcoholism and drugs since the age of 13. He also entered into a drug rehab earlier this year.
