Kate Middleton, the pregnant real-life princess (sort of), may be in labor. Prince William rushed back to Kate after a polo match, so that he could catch his wife's due date and finally reveal the gender of his first child.
Even princes have obligations that cannot be missed. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, is no different than the rest of us.
Still, though, today was a pretty rough day to double-book yourself. Prince William was first playing in a polo match at Kent & Curwen Royal Polo Cup in Sydmonton, England. And, even though the event was held for charity, it may have proven too risky of a decision.
Why?
Because today is also his lovely wife's delivery date. Yikes!
What makes matters even worse, is that Kate was terrified her husband was going to miss the birth of their baby. Before, however, she was worried he would not return home soon enough from his job as a search and rescue pilot. Her fears were expressed in NOW Magazine, when a source spoke to the publication:
"Kate's worried he might not be around. She's feeling self-conscious because it's uncharted territory for both of them. While she's concerned he won't be there, Kate knows that William will do everything in his power not to let her down."
What irony. The prince may miss his child's birth not because of a daring search and rescue mission...but because he was playing a game...on a horse.
It was announced last week that the Queen would be missing the birth of her third great-grandchild. Her excuse? She would have to be leave her holiday early. And there is no way HRH is missing one second of vacation time. After all, she deserves it.
