Tonight the hit CW, DC Comics series The Flash is all new with a brand new episode. Tonight the show takes us back in time, with the return of Mark Hamill (Star Wars, Joker from Batman: Arkham City) as The Trickster.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of The Flash, titled “Tricksters,” reads:
“A copycat killer known as the Trickster sets off bombs in Central City. In an effort to stop him, Barry and Joe seek help from the original Trickster, a criminal mastermind who has been imprisoned for 20 years. Meanwhile, Iris asks Eddie to help with a case. In flashbacks, Harrison Wells is shown coming up with the idea for the particle accelerator.”
Mark Hamill recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about returning to The Flash, and being reunited with original Flash actor John Wesley Shipp:
“I got a call from my business people saying they want you to do something on The Flash, and I was thinking like a colleague of John Wesley Shipp’s, a professor, something age appropriate. I’m not getting back into that one-piece jumpsuit, the spandex deal. When they said The Trickster, I just couldn’t believe it. I just couldn’t figure out how that could be.”
Hamill went on to add that it was the show’s amazing writing that ultimately brought him back, adding:
“I was very skeptical, but then I called Andrew [Kreisberg] and the one thing that impressed me about this show is how smart the writing is. It’s got the comic book element, but it’s really strong in characters.
Hamill is also passing the mantle of The Trickster down to Devon Graye, adding:
“I shouldn’t have been surprised when they had the ingenious idea of having Devon Graye play a new Trickster. All these villains have unyielding egos. It worked. When I read the script, I said, ‘Who’s this punk getting all this stuff?’ I reacted just like I was in character because he really gets to do all the fun Trickster-y things.”
