The royal (and very pregnant) Kate Middleton is expecting her due date to occur any day now. As the delivery approaches, we have all the details you need to know about the royal boy or girl.
Kate and Prince William have remained largely silent about the details of their first child’s birth and have refused to release the delivery date to the public--a decision that has the press in a fury, already camping out for photos.
Joe Little, who is the manager of Majesty Magazine, offers some insight as to why this is the case. He speculates that it is because of William’s feelings towards the paparazzi:
"Privacy is key for Prince William as he saw the way his mother, Princess Diana, suffered at the hands of the paparazzi, and he wants to make sure this does not happen to his wife or his own children.”
The couple appears to be keeping some information from even themselves. It is reported that neither Kate nor William have decided to learn the sex of their child.
There is some key information which is known about the delivery. For example, The Huffington Post claims that:
“The baby is to be born in the private Lindo wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London where Prince William was born 31 years ago. Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997 after splitting up with Prince Charles, also had Prince Harry there. The baby is due to be delivered by Marcus Setchell, the Queen's former gynaecologist, in the private wing where a normal delivery costs 4,965 pounds ($7,400) and each extra night around 1,000 pounds.”
Once the birth has occurred, the royal family will be issuing a statement in both traditional and modern ways. Like Prince William, details of his child will be displayed on a notice along the royal gates. But, fear not, all of us across the pond will be able to get our update from Twitter, the popular social networking site.
