Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling Divorce Clothing Comments Lead to Breakup Rumors After Baby?

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling found themselves in a bit of a social media uproar recently, when Eva declared that sweatpants are the leading cause of divorce. Naturally, this set off a fresh wave of breakup rumors for the couple, who recently celebrated the birth of their first child, little Esmeralda.

The press is absolutely obsessed with Eva Mendes, so it comes as no surprise that any little comment she makes can (and often is) blown out of proportion.

That certainly seemed to be the case last week, when the actress made a seemingly harmless statement about loungewear. In case you missed Eva's comments about sweatpants leading to divorce, Inquistr has you covered in their latest rundown:

"[Eva Mendes'] announcement about her attitude toward that popular form of casual attire came during a discussion about how she and Ryan Gosling keep the flames alive in their relationship. Eva decided it was time to warn the women of the world that sweatpants are the leading cause of divorce."

Since then, however, a number of advocacy groups and social media users, in general, have been in uproar.

But, that wasn't enough to keep her man, Ryan Gosling, from defending Eva during this (non) issue. According to Yahoo Entertainment, Eva was just joking:

"[Ryan Gosling] assured his fans on Thursday that no, he's not actually a sweatpants hater. 'Obviously sweatpants thing was a joke. Wearing them now,' the 34-year-old Only God Forgives actor tweeted. 'That's right, tweeting in sweatpants. Rats! Said too much! You win again Twitter.'"

What do you think about the latest reports? Is there any chance that Eva was being serious when she claimed that sweatpants destroy relationships? Can you believe that this has become an issue? Would you complain if you came home to find Ryan Gosling wearing sweatpants?
