Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is known for outspoken conservative stances, will be leaving The View. The former Survivor contestant will be joining the set of Fox and Friends.
Mrs. Hasselbeck’s decision to leave her morning talk show, The View, came as a surprise to many. Elisabeth was on the show for over a decade, before deciding to jump ship.
In a written statement to Fox News, Elisabeth stated:
“I have been a long-time fan of ‘Fox & Friends’ and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home.”
ABC issued their own announcement in the wake of Elisabeth’s decision to leave ABC for Fox News. It was one filled with admiration and love:
“For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to The View. We watched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist. She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question. We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career.”
Even Barbara Walters, who is the executive producer of The View, congratulated the soon-to-be-former host:
“When Elisabeth survived Survivor, we wanted to make sure she would stay afloat. We have had 10 wonderful years with her and she will now be swimming in new waters. We will miss her and wish her everything good.”
Haselbeck will be joining Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on Fox and Friends. Gretchen Carlson, who also hosts the program, will be moving to her own 1-hour show. Many feel that she will replace Megyn Kelly’s old timeslot.
