Princess Kate Middleton is pregnant and, unless you've been living under a rock, you know that her due date is quickly approaching. While the royal boy or girl has not been given a name, the child's title has already been selected.
A representative from Kensington Palace states that the "child will officially be known as His or Her Royal Highness Prince or Princess of Cambridge."
Earlier in the week, Cambridge officials responded with delight. Councillor Paul Saunders, Mayor of Cambridge, sat down with The Daily Mail, where he issued the following statement:
"It is a great honour and I'm sure the people of Cambridge will appreciate it greatly, I think it's lovely to continue the close link with the Royal family. I think anything which helps to keep Cambridge in the public eye is a good thing as we rely on tourism."
Sheila Stewart, who also served as mayor, also commented to the publication. She, too, shared Saunders enthusiasm:
"When we did a lot of research after it was first announced that the couple were to get the title, nothing like that was found. There were some dukes of Cambridge but not a prince or princess. It can only be good news for Cambridge. Everyone is so excited about it. The whole country is waiting for the birth."
Kate and husband, Prince William of Wales, opted to find out the gender of their child at the same time as the rest of the country. That could be one reason for the delay in naming the child. But, don’t worry...with an expected delivery date of this week, you won’t have to wait long to find out.
Immediately following the birth of their child, the royal family will place the details of their new child (ie, weight, gender and name) on a certificate along the castle gates. The child’s information will be displayed on the same frame that was used when William was born.
