It’s been a pretty good week for Jay-Z. His newest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, went platinum before it was even released. It was not such a great week for Beyonce Knowles’ Father, Matthew Knowles. Her father was married and neither herself, nor her sister, Solange Knowles, attended the ceremony.
Matthew married his longtime love, former model Gena Germaine Avery. The pair were dating for the past year and a half. The happy couple defended the stars in their family by saying his daughters had “engagements which made it impossible for them to attend.”
The crowd seemed skeptical of their response...and so does most of the press. It is a widely known fact that Beyonce and Solange do not get along well with their father.
Many critics argue that it stems from Matthew's split with their mother, Tina Knowles. The couple was married for over 30 years before the pair separated. The couple called it quits after Matthew admitted to an affair which resulted in the birth of a child.
Matthew, who once represented both Beyonce and Solange, ended his professional career with his daughters in 2011. His relationship with his daughters has suffered ever since as ‘Examinar’ reports:
“There is no word on why the sisters skipped their father’s wedding, but Beyonce has implied she and her father are not on the best of terms at the moment. She did perform in Las Vegas the day before her father’s wedding.”
