While some of Taylor Swift's original diehard country music fans have been a little sheepish about fully embracing her recent pop star transformation, fellow Nashville peer, Eric Church, insists that he loves her Taye-Taye's new album, '1989.' Speaking of her fans -- Katy Perry ex-boyfriend, Diplo, who claimed he was scared for his life as receiving death threats, says that provoking Swift's rapid fans with a feud over the size of her booty was the worst mistakes of his life. Now that he is no longer even dating her nemesis, it seems that the EDM DJ is starting to seriously question what he got himself in to with his social media slight.
Some country music fans find it a little hard to accept Taylor Swift's move from to a more pop sound as not selling out, but Eric Church thinks of it more as the next stage in a beautiful evolution.
During a recent conversation with Rolling Stone, Church explained that, in his opinion, Swift's career has been unparalleled by any modern musician (via Taste of Country):
"If you look at her career, she's in a space that, historically, I don't know that anybody's ever been in," he says. "Everybody always compares her to Madonna, but I don't know, man.
"Madonna at 25, was she at this spot?...especially if you look at what she's done in country prior to kind of moving into pop.
"She has such a unique career and she's so young and it's going to be really cool to see where that goes.
"I'm looking forward to it."
And as far as the change in her sounds goes, Church explained that he only wished he had been just as bold when he recorded his last album:
"I thought that what she did with the pop album was the most brilliant thing. And I totally get why she did it -- it completely and totally makes everybody out there go, 'What the hell is next?'
"It was such a departure, and it was so fresh that she's opened up the whole field."
Sadly, Diplo doesn't share the same high level of esteem for Taylor Swift, but what Katy Perry's ex-boyfriend really can't stand her fans.
In a recent interview with British GQ Style, the DJ claimed that one of the biggest mistake he's ever made was inviting that misery of feuding with Swift into his life (via Huffington Post):
"All I know is don't ever get into a feud with Taylor Swift.
"She has like 50 million people that will die for her. You can't step into that arena.
"That was something I was never prepared for...one of the biggest mistakes of my career was definitely f-cking with her."
No wonder Eric Church has nothing but nice things to say.
