Elisha Cuthbert, the Happy Endings' starlet, has finally married Dion Phaneuf, superstar hockey player for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The lovely wedding took place Saturday.
The 32-year-old actress and the 28-year-old hockey sensation decided it was time to make things official. After five years of dating, the couple invited 300 of their closest friends and family to attend their wedding.
While the ceremony was originally scheduled to be an outdoor wedding, it took place within St. James Catholic Church in Summerfield. The location was very important to the couple, who hold Prince Edward Island in high regard.
Since they’ve been dating, the pair would spend their summers on the popular Canadian island. More importantly, perhaps, is that Prince Edward Island is where Dion proposed to Elisha, back in September of last year.
The ceremony was conducted by Rev. Paul Egan. After the wedding, he took time to comment about the big day:
"It's a big wedding, probably the biggest I've ever done in my 46 years, as far as the celebrity part of it goes. I said, ‘I hope the paparazzi won't be peeking in,' and [Ms. Cuthbert] said, ‘Well, that's why we have security.'"
The stars’ security guards weren’t finished after the ceremony, either. Following the exchange of “I do’s,” the celebrity couple invited their 300 guests to attend the reception. The event was held at Mr. Phaneuf’s personal home.
Rag-mag Stars was on hand and reported a few quirky details that marked their special day. The bridesmaids’ dresses were salmon-colored and the bride was dropped off at the ceremony by a black convertible (with the top up).
