Britney Spears, the ditsy pop icon, is releasing a new album this year. She’s already released one new song, “Ooh La La,” as part of the Smurfs 2 soundtrack. And, it’s not as toxic as you might think.
Spears hasn’t released a new album in over two years. Her last efforts, Femme Fatale, was quite successful. Fatale, her seventh studio album, peaked at the number one position of Billboard’s and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
Even though Britney didn’t release a new album in 2012, it didn’t stop her earning power. The celebrity managed to top the 2012 Forbes list of top earning women musicians. She raked in an impressive $58 million dollars. Of course, $15 million came from her judging gig on The X Factor, which she will not be returning to.
Spears will be too busy working on her music career to be a judge. The celebrity singer will be releasing her eighth studio album this fall. Spears made the announcement (as is par for the course, now) on Twitter, telling her fans:
“Really excited to give you a taste of my new album. Can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on. Going to be my most personal album ever :)”
While not a lot is known about her upcoming album, we can tell you that RCA Records will be releasing the project. It’s also worth noting that will.i.am will be the executive producer.
