Princess Kate Middleton will be welcoming her new boy or girl into the world soon. The princess' due date is within days and we have a full rundown on the pregnant royal's plans.
Most news outlets decided to focus on Middleton's planned parenting techniques. A lot of speculation has centered around what kind of mom Kate plans on being to the new bundle of joy. Royal biographer, Christopher Warwick had a few speculations.
Christopher claims that Kate will be raising her children in a similar fashion as the late Princess Diana. In a statement to the press, Mr Warwick claimed:
“William and Harry were very, very fortunate with Diana as a mother because her ideas were so different to the previous generation. The importance of this to her two sons have been enormous. William will want this for his children. Kate's childhood was pretty ordinary. She won’t want her baby to be the subject of rules and protocol before they need to be.”
It doesn't stop with general parenting rules, either. Multiple sources have claimed that Kate will be breastfeeding her child. While this probably doesn't strike you as odd, it is rare for the royals to partake in such practices. Hollywood Life reports that:
"Kate plans on emulating the late princess is through breastfeeding! While royals traditionally chose not to breastfeed their children, Princess Diana was reportedly the first royal to breastfeed her first son William. If Kate does decide to breastfeed her newborn, which author Daisy Goodwin suggests she will do during an interview on 20/20: Bringing Up Baby: Royal Edition, she will be following in Princess Diana’s footsteps."
It appears that, much like the case with Diana, the Queen seems to be distancing herself from the princess. The Queen of England has officially stated that she will not be attending the birth of Kate's child. This has struck many as being strange, considering the fact that this is her first great-grandchild. Others say that this is a common practice, as the Queen will be on holiday. The matriarch will be midway through her summer vacation at the Balmoral estate in Scotland and has no plans of cutting her royal vacation short.
She might not be the only family member absent from the birth.
Prince William has been busy doing work with the RAF. He is serving as a search and rescue pilot for the organization. While his work should be commended, it is causing consternation in one fan...his beautiful (and very pregnant) wife.
A source told NOW Magazine:
"Kate's worried he might not be around. She's feeling self-conscious because it's uncharted territory for both of them. While she's concerned he won't be there, Kate knows that William will do everything in his power not to let her down."
It is unlikely that the princess will find herself alone on her special day, but if fellow royals aren't in attendance, they can find out just like the rest of us.
An aide to the royals, told US Weekly that the couple is planning on placing a framed announcement of the birth on the gates of Buckingham Palace--similar to the announcement made for Prince William's birth in 1982.
In fact, it's actually the same frame used to announce William's birth. The document will list the baby's name, gender, weight and time of birth.
The same source also revealed that:
"We want there to be a degree of theatre about the birth announcement. This is the birth of the third in line to the throne so it is very important. It is an extremely important occasion."
