New PS4 Release Date, Stats, Price and Rumors for PlayStation Gaming Console

PlayStation will be releasing their newest gaming console this fall. The PS4 gaming console will be hitting a store near you soon, but we’ve got all the details on the upcoming system. From its stats and price to its release date and rumors, we have you covered.

Originally, the PS4 had a launch date of mid-November (the same as the Xbox One), but recent reports indicate that date may have very well been moved up. According to ‘The Daily Game:’

“Over the weekend, the PS4 release date for several games as shown at Amazon was moved to a date well in advance of Nov. 19, which was the PS4 release date we’d originally speculated on from EA. COD: Ghosts for PS4, for instance, is shown on Amazon as releasing on Nov. 5. Meanwhile, Battlefield 4 for PS4, is shown with a PS4 release date even earlier, on Oct. 29.”

Those actions suggest that the console might be released two weeks ahead of time on October 29.

One thing that is known for certain is the price of the console. In a move that has startled much of the gaming community, the PlayStation will be priced 20% less than the Xbox One, Microsoft’s upcoming console. While the Xbox will cost you a whopping $499, the PS4 will have a retail price of $399.

While not all of the details are known about Sony’s newest gaming system, the company has posted a number of things about the console on its official website.

For example, the company discusses its newest controller:

“The DUALSHOCK®4 controller features new innovations to deliver more immersive gaming experiences, including a highly sensitive six-axis sensor as well as a touch pad located on the top of the controller, which offers completely new ways to play and interact with games. The new SHARE button puts video streaming and sharing a tap away.”

Controllers aren’t the only upgrade. The site also discusses their new “Share” button and service:

“Engage in endless personal challenges with your community and share your epic triumphs with the press of a button. Simply hit the SHARE button on the controller, scan through the last few minutes of gameplay, tag it and return to the game—the video uploads as you play. The PS4™ system also enhances social spectating by enabling you to broadcast your gameplay in real-time.”
