UFC #1 Ranked Jon Jones Faces Anthony Johnson in Upcoming Title Fight After Cocaine Scandal

Jon Jones has climbed the ranks to become the UFC's most dominant and decorated fighter. His performances within the ring earned him the promotion's top pound-for-pound ranking. Also, he has knocked off a long list of respectable fighters, however, his upcoming bout with Anthony Johnson looks like it's going to be his toughest battle to date. Also, Bones was recently involved in a reputation-tarnishing cocaine scandal that has cost him $25K in punitive fines. So, one tends to wonder if Jones is too distracted to handle the pending fight of his life.

Before his time as a nationwide phenomenon, Jones was a very popular wrestler at Union-Endicott High School in New York. He made his MMA debut in 2008 outside of the UFC. The stint turned into a carer when he went undefeated, with a 6-0 record.

To this date, he has only suffered one loss, and even then it was due to disqualification at his own hands.

In turn, not one opponent has been able to knock him off his throne. According to the LA Times, though, it looks like Anthony Johnson could be the one to finally show the champ what it feels like to lose:

"Anthony Johnson knows what redemption feels like, something like the first-round knockout blow he landed in January to stun the Ultimate Fighting Championship's top light-heavyweight challenger Alexander Gustafsson in his native Sweden...On May 23 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Johnson (19-4) will try to take his revival one more remarkable step, when he meets light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones (21-1). Johnson said he believes the redemptive theme of his fight with Jones is rich."

True, a worthy opponent is a crucial part of the equation that equals a Jones defeat.

However, according to MMA Mania, there are many more factors tipping the scale against the reigning tyrant:

"Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, was popped for cocaine...prior to his title fight against Daniel Cormeir, which went down at UFC 181...Soon thereafter, "Bones" announced that he'd check into rehab to take care of his issues; however, it was discovered that the process of rehabilitation, in this case, lasted a mere 24 hours. To make matters worse for Jones, UFC docked him $25,000 for violating its code of conduct policy..."
