For most people in the less enlightened towns in America, marriage counseling usually starts after a couples' relationship starts to suffer, but in Hollywood therapy often begins shortly after the wedding. According to the latest gossip news updates, that also seems to be the case for Sex Tape sex-symbol Cameron Diaz and her Good Charlotte husband, Benji Madden. Word has it that wife to Benji's brother Joel, Nicole Richie, pushed the idea on the newlyweds as the key to staying happily together forever.
Although most folks see couples' therapy as a sign that a marriage is in serious trouble, many of Hollywood's hottest couple are said to rely on psychoanalysis to keep thing from ever turning that dark corner in the first place.
One source close to newly married Cameron Diaz explains in the March 16, issue of Star Magazine that the best relationship advice that Cameron ever got from her sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, had to do with getting into counseling as soon as humanly possible:
"She told Cameron this is how you make a relationship last."
That makes perfect sense given the central role that Nicole says therapy plays in her day-to-day life:
"My life would not be half as fulfilled as it is without therapy.
"It also helps keep my head clear and it helps me stay focused on my work and my life, and I just use it as a way of maintaining a certain standard of life."
While some might wonder if it's healthy to place so much of you daily wellbeing into someone else's hands, Cameron told Cosmopolitan UK that it was far safer that relying on Twitter or Instagram to validate your feelings of self-worth:
"I think social media is a crazy-ass experiment on society.
"The way people use it to get validation from a bunch of strangers is dangerous.
"What's the point?"
Of course that is coming from someone who has been putting themselves on display for the world to judge since she was 17-years-old, so you should probably take all that with a grain of salt.
