Apple Gaming Console May Be Coming Soon, 2013 Product Rumors

Many rumors are circulating about what products Apple will release or announce in 2013. Specifically, a lot of buzz is being generated by an Apple gaming console, which may be coming soon.

Apple, which is one of the most secretive companies around (when it comes to new products), has predictably remained silent on the matter. Google, on the other hand, has been their usual chatty selfs about designing an upcoming system.

In a recent Wall Street Journal article, the publication reported that a source within Google issued the following statement, in regards to creating a gaming platform:

“Google is reacting in part to expectations that rival Apple will launch a video-game console as part of its next Apple TV product release.”

So, if Apple isn’t releasing a new gaming platform, it certainly has Google (and many other insiders) fooled.

If Apple does move forward in the gaming industry, it would certainly make sense. Not only would the company make tons of cash (something it has up-to-now been very good at doing), but the platform is already in place.

Apple’s current iOS has proven that it can handle video game titles that debuted on traditional gaming consoles but have shifted to the iPad--like, The Walking Dead and Grand Theft Auto.

Apple isn’t just attracting crossover hits, either. Major gaming studios are creating original content just for the iOS. As ‘Time’ reported:

“Eidos will soon release Deus Ex: The Fall, an iOS game that aims to have similar production values as its console predecessor, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Ubisoft is working on Trials Frontier, a mobile version of the popular extreme-motocross series, for 2014. Electronic Arts was ahead of the curve with a mobile version of Dead Space, which still managed to preserve the creepy, isolated atmosphere of its console counterpart.”
