Paula Deen Dropped By More Companies Including Publisher: Her Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week Got Worse

Paula Deen’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week, just got worse. The celebrity chef was dropped by more companies, including the publisher of her once-upcoming book.

Paula Deen’s almost-cookbook, Paula Deen's New Testament: 250 Favorite Recipes, All Lightened Up had reached the #1 position on Amazon, largely due to support from fans who thought Paula was getting a raw deal.

But now, they can’t even have the satisfaction of helping the chef. Ballantine Books, her former publisher, announced that they would be cutting ties with Deen.

This comes as a huge surprise to many, especially considering the early success of her cookbook. Of course, it may have something to do with the fact that she is hemorrhaging corporate sponsors.

The most important of which is probably Wal-Mart and Target. These companies are refusing to sell any of her products, including the book.

Janice Donnaud, Paula’s literary agent, issued the following comment:

"I am confident that these books will be published and that we will have a new publisher.”

But, she did refuse to comment when asked if any publishers had contacted her.

Ballantine Books just joined a pretty long list of companies in their boycott of Deen, like: The Food Network, Smithfield Foods, Caesars Entertainment, Novo Nordisk, Wal-Mart, Target, Home Depot, J.C. Penney, Sears Holdings, Barnes and Noble, and QVC (though QVC did say they were open to a possibility of working with Deen in the future).

In less than a week, Paula went from managing an empire (that we’re not really sure how she acquired in the first place), to helplessly watching as it crumbled in front of her eyes.
