Minnesota Vikings Adrian Peterson Suspension Overturned after Vicious Beating of 4-Year-Old Son

Viking's former running back Adrian Peterson has gained a lot of attention after he was suspended for viciously whipping his son with a switch. In recent news, the NFL has overturned the onetime great's suspension, after it was revealed that the arbitrator "overstepped his authority." This is good news for Vikings fans, but to others, this is just another example of a celebrity getting away with murder. As one source pointed out, things must have been bad if the 4-year-old child, himself, went to the police.

Before his time as a professional, Peterson played college ball for the University of Oklahoma. During that time, he was a unanimous All-American. Also, he became the first freshman to ever be named as runner up for the Heisman Trophy.

His impressive performances earned him a 7th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2007 NFL Draft. That same year, he was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Now, however, he is without a team, and many have suggested that he will never play professional football again.

However, a report by Yahoo Sports suggests that there might be a glimmer of a chance:

"The NFL suspended Peterson after the completion of his court case involving him injuring his 4-year-old son with a switch. On Thursday a federal judge said the NFL arbitrator who made that suspension decision overstepped his authority and applied the NFL's new conduct policy retroactively to Peterson's case, so he overturned the suspension. The NFL said it is reviewing the ruling, and hasn't yet said whether it will reinstate Peterson, appeal or arbitrate again."

Whether he plays again or not, his controversial actions will never be forgotten. In fact, many argue that the NFL made a poor decision.

This report by Daily Snark suggests that his suspension should have never been overturned in the first place:

"Many people that physically beating a child in regard to punishment is an ill serving and unnecessary way to instill a lesson, and in some cases worthy of jail time. [A few moths ago] arguably the leagues best player other than a quarterback, Vikings RB Adrian Peterson turned himself in after his four-year-old son indirectly went to the police after being beaten by a 'switch' or thin tree branch repeatedly over the lower extremities."
