If Donald Trump had realized that former Renegade Lorenzo Lamas was such a deft problem solver, perhaps he would have awarded the 57 year-old actor the top prize on Celebrity Apprentice after all. According to the latest gossip news updates, Lorenzo's wife Shawna is going to serve as a surrogate to his daughter, Shayne, and her husband, Nik Richie, founder of TheDirty.com. Shayne lost the ability to have kids due to a near fatal complication that arose during her second pregnancy, but thankfully, he younger step-mom is willing to step in and give her a hand -- so to speak.
When 29-year-old former Bachelor winner, Shayne Lamas, had an emergency hysterectomy to save her life during a traumatic second pregnancy, it looked like her dream of having a second child with husband, Nik Richie, had been dashed forever, but thankfully the doctors were able to save her ovaries -- leaving Shayne with just the little problem of finding a surrogate mother before she could have a baby.
Shayne and Nik were happy to announce that the search for an available belly didn't take long, since her dad, Lorenzo, apparently wasn't looking to have a child anytime soon with his current wife, Shawna Craig.
During a revealing interview with Closer Weekly, Shayne admitted that it felt a little stranger having her father's 28-year-old wife carrying her baby, but all things considered, it's probably the best possible situation:
"It is weird. Somebody else carrying your baby is weird.
"But I lost my son, and now Shawna is carrying my son.
"I have just been given the biggest blessing in the whole world and I will always be grateful."
Nik's wife went on to explain that things might seem really creepy if she and Shawna weren't as close as they are, but the girls relationship doesn't have any of the cliché tensions that you see in the movie:
"Shawna's not just my stepmother, she's like a soul sister.
"She's an angel that blessed my whole family, including my father."
While some men might find it unsettling to think of their grandchild growing inside of their wife's womb, in the March 2, issue of In Touch, Lorenza Lamas admitted that he absolutely loved the idea of his wife doing the family this real solid:
"I'm my wife's biggest cheerleader.
"What she's doing is a beautiful thing."
Okay...well, that really depends on who you ask.
