‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie Get’s Cast and Director

Fifty Shades of Grey is probably one of the year's most anticipated movies. Today, the studio announced that they have found their director.

Sam Taylor-Johnson, a Turner-Prize nominated artist, will be taking control of the project. She issued a statement yesterday afternoon:

“I am excited to be charged with the evolution of Fifty Shades of Grey from page to screen. For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honour the power of Erika's book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin too."

Of course, news of this decision was first broken on El James Twitter. James authored the bestselling novel on which the film is based. She released the following statement:

"I'm delighted & thrilled to let you guys know that Sam Taylor-Johnson has agreed to direct the film of Fifty Shades of Grey."

Michael De Luca, who was brought on to the project as a producer, had these kind words to offer:

"Sam's unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia's relationship to life. E.L. James' characters and vivid storytelling require a director who is willing to take risks and push the envelope where needed, and Sam is a natural fit."

One person who will not be joining the cast is Armie Hammer. The star is quoted as saying:

"No one actually offered me the movie, but while I was working on Lone Ranger my agent brought it up, and I said 'Nope.' I mean, come on - it's just mommy porn."
