Hunter Hayes, the Grammy-nominated country star, is re-releasing his debut album. Encore will include nine new songs, including his current hit "I Want Crazy." See him perform this hit live, on his new tour.
Hayes' self-titled album, which Encore is based off of, sold nearly a million copies. Fans responded to so favorably to it, that he decided to re-release the album.
Hayes, who is just 21, told the press:
"You never get a second chance at a first impression - unless you do. And this is my way of doing that. Albums are chapters. They're part of a story. I don't believe in making a record and rushing it. I'm not ready for the next record yet, I'm just not. And there are some things I didn't get to do on the first record."
Eight songs on the album will be brand new or arranged differently than they were on his freshman album. Many of the songs were written around the same time as the first album, but for whatever reason, didn't seem to work.
Among the songs added to his original album, is the country mega-hit "I Want Crazy." Not to mention, Hayes included his crossover hit "Wanted," which has garnered the singer a lot of attention outside of the country music world.
Back in April, the star gave a revealing interview to Esquire, where he stated:
"The stage is my comfort zone, and playing live is what I've always wanted to do. It's why I want to do two hundred dates a year. I wouldn't feel that way if I were nervous onstage. These days, we play a two-and-a-half-hour headlining show. We have a song with a twenty-minute outro on it. Things evolve and I love that. Country music busts the wall between performer and audience. There's a connection because there's a vulnerability, a confessional quality, to so much of the songwriting. Those lyrics take you in."
