The film "Wicked," directed by Jon M. Chu and based on the Broadway musical, won the prize for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. In the category of Best Performance by an actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, "The Substance" star Demi Moore outperformed the gifted Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner Cynthia Erivo, for her performance as Elphaba.
Ariana Grande was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture for her role as Glinda in the film "Wicked." In the end, Zoe Saldaña took home the prize for her outstanding performance in the musical film "Emilia Pérez," which also took home the coveted Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy award.
Kieran Culkin, who recently won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for his exceptional performance in the movie "A Real Pain," will make his eagerly awaited Broadway comeback this spring as Richard Roma in the revival of "Glengarry Glen Ross."
Sebastian Stan, who starred in Broadway's 2013 production of "Picnic," was one of the winners. He won Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy for his work in "A Different Man."
Jean Smart, who received praise for her role in the television show "Hacks," also took up the Best Actress in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy prize.
Stan's former co-star from "Succession," Jeremy Strong, was nominated for a Tony Award in 2024 for his performance in "The Apprentice."
Viola Davis, an EGOT recipient, accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award with grace on January 3 at the Golden Globe Awards' spectacular Golden Gala: A Celebration of Excellence. Meryl Streep presented her with the award.
