Among the shows that had a successful week was "The Lion King," generating $4.2 million from nine performances; "Aladdin," bringing in $2.81 million; and "The Great Gatsby," setting a new box office record of $2.62 million for nine shows at the Broadway Theatre.
In addition to earning the third-highest revenue in the business during a hectic performance week, "Hamilton" made $2.93 million from eight shows.
A number of plays had a spike in box office success last week, with "The Outsiders" topping the pack by breaking the previous record at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre for its eighth straight sold-out performance, which was a significant milestone for the production. With an average ticket price of $239.96, the show brought in just over $2 million in sales.
In addition, "Elf the Musical" made $2.2 million at the Marquis Theatre, setting a new box office record.
