The WWE is easily the most popular wrestling promotion on Earth. In turn, it has provided fans with some of the most popular athletes ever to compete in professional sports. One of these pros is unmistakably Bill Goldberg. In recent news, rumors have been flying around that he wants to make his return to the ring. Even if he doesn't do so in the WWE, he might be making his debut with Glory Kickboxing.
Before his time as a wrestler, Goldberg had a semi-successful stint as a professional football player. Originally, he took a scholarship to play college ball for the University of Georgia.
After outputting some impressive stats, he earned himself a 11th round draft pick with the St. Louis Rams in the 1990 NFL Draft. After being traded between several different teams, Goldberg finally found his home within wrestling.
Likewise, he switched from promotion to promotion until he, finally, made it to the big times with the WWE in 2003.
After that, the rest was history. He is now one of the sport's biggest names, and now it seems like he may be back. According to the Latin Post, Goldberg pumped up fans when he rumored a possible return to the ring:
"It's been over 10 years since Bill Goldberg left WWE, but with fans still yearning to see him in action, he might just come back to the ring. Although [he's] already 48-years-old, he is still fit to throw some strong punches. In fact, he says he is in the best shape. 'I could still do it...I'm probably in the best shape of my life right now,' he [said in] an interview prior to his appearance at the Magic City Comic Con in [January]."
Moreover, Goldberg has admitted that he has entertained talks with Glory Kickboxing. So, according to Bloody Elbow, the chances are good that, one way or another, fans will get to see Bill perform once again:
"Pro-wrestling legend Bill Goldberg says he is in talks with GLORY about taking a fight for the organization 'just for fun'. The former WCW and WWE champion is one of the most accomplished figures in the history of professional wrestling but is also a huge fan of combat sports. He...trains three to four times a week at a Muay Thai training center in California of which he is part owner."
