The divorce of Wendi Deng and Rupert Murdoch has made headlines around the world. Yesterday, however, it became even more newsworthy. Can you guess how Tony Blair fits into the situation?
Tony Blair, who is 60-years-old, is connected to the Murdoch family in many ways--some of them more scandalous than others.
Blair is the godfather of the pair's two young daughters. He is an intricate part of the girls' lives and the 9 and 11-year-old love the chap.
Sources close to Blair, the former Prime Minister, claim that he had an affair with Deng, who is 16 years younger than the PM. Officials have since denied the allegations, despite the increasing number of outlets reporting it.
Michael Wolff, who knows the couple quite well (because he wrote the Murdoch biography) offered up these thoughts:
"She is completely upfront, on the surface, having a great time with whatever she's doing, enthralled by her life. She's irresistible, and I don't mean that sexually. If she took an interest in you, you would respond."
Murdoch, who is known for his salacious (if inaccurate) headlines, continues to deliver on the entertainment front.
The 87-year-old owner of NewsCorp filed a one-page document Thursday with the New York State Supreme Court. The filing quickly became news fodder, with even a few of his own publications covering the spectacle.
While little info about the case has been released, a source told USA Today that "the relationship between the husband and wife has broken down irretrievably."
Back in 2011, Deng really stepped out into the spotlight.
Remember that trial where Murdoch hacked that dead girl's phone, so that he could scoop the competition?
Well, at the trial hearing, a comedian pied Rupert. Mrs. Deng wasn't about to let someone diss her (much older) man. She responded by slapping the idiot, earning her a lot of street cred.
