As if you needed any reason to listen to a K-Pop group dish out their single "Phone Number" with a jazz swing, we now present you with TAHITI and their latest remix of their own on KBS.
In the clip, the TAHITI members are heard crooning over the sultry number, intertwining harmonies and boasting powerful vocal runs.
The group has come under a bit of heat lately, as they were on the chopping block for using the intro to JYJ's "Mission" without permission or consent. JYJ fans found a clip of TAHITI performing "Hasta Luego" May 14.
But in the intro, the song that plays is JYJ's "Mission," which even includes Yoochun's part where he says, "Just pull it off."
During the concert, too, TAHITI said they usually reserve the intro for international performances only, but since the song was to be played for Hongik University, they felt it appropriate.
The comment did not move JYJ fans, though, who took up the issue with the companies of TAHITI (Dream Star Entertainment) and JYJ (C-JeS).
A fan of JYJ uploaded an apology from TAHITI's Dream Star Entertainment, which reads:
"Hello. This is Dream Star Entertainment. We are apologizing to our fans.
"We used the intro for our past overseas performances because the concert personnel suggested it. After that, we came to understand that the intro was used again because the manager who was responsible wasn't careful enough with the details. The manager has been taken care of, and the song has been removed.
"We apologize once again for causing a disturbance, and we support JYJ's unlimited growth. We will become a Dream Star Entertainment that keeps growing."
C-JeS responded to the apology and agreed the use of the song was unintentional, though it did violate copyright laws. They have since agreed to settle the problem label to label.
But, for now, here are the girls of TAHITI performing the song "Phone Number" with a most astounding jazz tinge:
