Well it looks like Benedict Cumberbatch has dropped out of another project. The Imitation Game star drop out of Crimson Peak in 2013, and was replaced by Tom Hiddleston. He has gotten so busy that he hasn’t been able to film a three episode season of the hit BBC series Sherlock. Now Cumberbatch has dropped of The Lost CIty of Z in order to play Marvel’s Dr. Strange. This comes on the heels of his accidental racist slur. However, it is not all bad news. Sons of Anarchy lead Charlie Hunnam is set to Cumberbatch’s place.
Lets face it. Benedict Cumberbatch can not be everywhere all the time. As much as we might want to see him in everything, the man has his limits. If we want to see him in Marvel’s Dr. Strange, we have to give up something. Cumberbatch may have had to drop out of The Lost City of Z, but we got a pretty nice consolation prize in Charlie Hunnam.
Recently, Benedict Cumberbatch but his foot in his mouth when he accidentally used an outdated racist term while trying to make a statement about diversity. In an interview with PBS’ Tavis Smiley, Cumberbatch used the term “colored,” stating (via Independent):
“I think as far as coloured actors go, it gets really different in the UK, and a lot of my friends have had more opportunities here [in the US] than in the UK, and that's something that needs to change.”
Cumberbatch latter released an apology, humbly acepting full blame for his stupidy(via The Guardian):
“I’m devastated to have caused offence by using this outmoded terminology. I offer my sincere apologies. I make no excuse for my being an idiot and know the damage is done.”
