Rumors are flying that Howard Stern may be contesting the Will of Joan Rivers, after it was announced that Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers, is suing the doctors who were operating on Joan when she died, over alleged medical malpractice.
Howard Stern is back at it.
The legendary radio broadcaster had listener's cracking up, when he jokingly announced that he would be suing Melissa Rivers over Joan's reported $150 million estate.
Stern started off seriously, when longtime caller Wheels brought up Melissa's lawsuit, on Stern's hit SiriusXM show:
"Melissa Rivers [filed a lawsuit] and rightfully so. It seems like she has a case there."
But when Stern was asked about whether he was named in Joan's will, Howard jokingly announced that he would be contesting Joan's last wishes:
"I understand that her estate was worth around $150 million...Yeah...I don't care how much money. I would love to get $150 million. I am actually contesting the Will. I don't want to really talk about this, because I am sure it will be written up in all the papers...I believe the will is doctored. Joan told me she was leaving me money, so I have filed a lawsuit with my lawyer. And, we are waiting to get a reversal...Why not? In this country, they don't publish anyone for a frivolous lawsuit."
Of course, Joan Rivers' death is no laughing matter (although celebrity deaths was a key target of Rivers during her life). This was exemplified this week, when it was revealed that Melissa will be taking legal action against the clinic performing Rivers' surgery.
According to Rolling Stone, Melissa attacked the clinic who she feels was responsible for her mother's death and her family's sadness:
"Melissa released a statement along with the lawsuit directing harsh words at the clinic, Yorkville Endoscopy. 'What ultimately guided me was my unwavering belief that no family should ever have to go through what my mother, [my son] Cooper and I have been through,' she said. 'The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible.'"
What do you think about the latest claims? Does Melissa have a case? Should the clinic be held responsible?
