For the past couple month America's Got Talent judge Mel B has been battling the rumors that she and her husband, American director Stephen Bellefonte, are ready to divorce after he was publicaly accused of abusing and kidnapping the Spice Girl following her missing a scheduled appearance on the UK's X Factor. According to the latest gossip news updates, Mel is now planning to renew her vows with Stephen in a lavish ceremony to dispel any doubts that their marriage isn't rock solid. While it is still uncertain if Simon Cowell will invite Brown back to be a judge next season, RuPaul apparently has no qualms with inviting the singer to serve on his panel for Season 6 of RuPaul's Drag Race.
Whatever led to Mel B's having to be rushed to the hospital late last month instead of going to the X Factor show as scheduled it is starting to look like marriage's reputation may never recover.
As though things weren't bad enough for Mel B when all of England seemed to believe her husband, Stephen Bellefonte, brutally beat her resulting in her hospitalization, last week It was reported that the Thank You for Not Smoking director had held the Spice Girl hostage instead of letting her go to the X Factor as previously planned.
Mel B's reps told the Daily Mail that the kidnapping allegations were preposterous, while Mel herself addressed the scandal in a Twitter update for her fans (via Hello Magazine):
"Both Mel and Stephen categorically deny this is true.
"The police have not contacted Stephen."
One source claiming to have all the behind-the-scenes details insists in the February 9, issue of OK! Magazine that Mel is now planning a ceremony to renew their marriage vows that will be even bigger than their original wedding to silence all the haters:
"Mel's not content with just saying, 'He didn't do it.'
"She wants to make a grand gesture -- probably even bigger that their first wedding.
"They want to turn all the negative news into something positive for them."
While it is still unknown whether or not Simon Cowell will hold all the bad press against Mel B when he chooses the panel for the next X Factor season, the Mirror reports that RuPaul and company were more than happy to invite B back to judge their queens:
"Spice Girl Mel B and pop songstress Ariana Grande lead an all-star list of talent who will be joining RuPaul herself and Celebrity Big Brother star Michelle Visage on the judging panel to assess the new queens' charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent."
Let's just hope that Mel makes it to all the tapings this time.
