UN Feminist Emma Watson to Retire from Acting after New Belle 'Beauty and the Beast' Movie Role? [SPEECH UPDATE]

Since delivering her well received speech at the United Nations a few months ago, Emma Watson is devoting more and more of her time towards furthering the feminist cause the world over with the UN Women's HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 initiative. According to the latest gossip news updates, the Harry Potter child star turned The Perks of Being a Wallflower sex-symbol will soon be staring as Belle in Disney's new live-action movie adaption of the children's classic, Beauty and the Beast, but some of her colleagues at the UN claim that they wouldn't be surprised if Emma semi-retired from acting for a little while to focus on her career as an internationaly respected human rights advocate.

Not since Angelina Jolie became a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations has the world been so ready to embrace a celebrity as human rights advocate for the world's poor the way they have Emma Watson following her speech challenging the feminist movement to be more inclusive as it moves forward.

This week in Davos, Switzerland, the Perks of Being a Wallflower starlet showed up to help launch UN Women's yearlong pilot project, the HeForShe IMPACT 10x10x10 initiative (via USA Today):

"It is my belief that there is a greater understanding than ever that women need to be equal participants in our homes, in our societies, in our governments and in our workplaces."

In addition to wowing the world's wealthiest men and women in Switerland, Watson also announced yesterday that she would be taking on the role as Belle in Disney's new live-action adaption of Beauty and the Beast on her official Facebook page:

"I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast!

"My six year old self is on the ceiling -- heart bursting.

"Time to start some singing lessons."

While Emma is currently balancing her career as an actress with her role as a world famous feminist, Elizabeth Nyamayaro of UN Women told The Daily Beast that she could see Watson focusing solely on her work with the United Nations in the future:

"She almost sees this as a career.

"You will be seeing more and more of her in a way that you haven't seen since Angelina Jolie."

Let's hope this doesn't mean that she's going to get into directing.
