ABC ‘Galavant’ Season 1 Finale Spoilers: ‘Little Mermaid’ and ‘Aladdin’ Composer Alan Menken Talks New Musical Series

ABC’s new music TV series, Galavant, is wrapping up its first (and hopefully not last) season this weekend. The hit show is composed and executive produced by Alan Menken, one of the people responsible for hit musicals like as Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Hercules, Tangled, and pretty much everything else that made your childhood special. No wonder this show is so amazing.

The official plot synopsis for this weekend’s first all new episode of Galavant, titled “My Cousin Izzy,” reads:

“Galavant finally gets his chance to be a hero when King Richard challenges his brother to a duel and requires someone to fight for him.”

The official plot synopsis for the final episode of the season, titled “It's All in the Executions,” reads:

“A plot to kill Kingsley is hatched before his duel with Richard.”

Acclaimed musical theatre and film composer, Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast), composed all the music for the film, as scene in this behind the scenes film:
