Last name: Vida; first name: Ben.
Most recently, we saw him at Phill Niblock's Chinatown loft, performing Damaged Particles for UNSOUND Festival.
And before that, once-twice atop Boreum Hill for Nate Wooley's Seven Story Mountain at ISSUE Project Room.
Most apropos, though, for this show: Classicalite's first post on Mr. Vida at Justin Luke's Audio Visual Arts for Slipping Control.
So, for our fourth time living la dolce Vida, we hoofed it on over to Chelsea. Joined by Anthony and Battles' own Tyondai Braxton--alongside vocal goddess Amiritha Kidambi--for another installment of The Kitchen's Synth Nights, Vida gave us yet another, perhaps call it tertiary look at Slipping Control (vers. 3).
During his grand psychoacoustical examination of the differences between the spoken and the more inchoate riddims of vox poesie, we were dying to hear Kidambi belt out those higher frictives for just a few bars longer--Carey-esque, if we may.
As for Herr Braxton, yeah, he was totes trill.
