Despite having small parts in Hollywood blockbusters like Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Les Misérables, English actor Eddie Redmayne has been relatively unknown here in the United States until his recent Oscar nominated portrayal of Stephen Hawing in The Theory of Everything. Despite recently getting married in the middle of awards season, his wedding to wife Hannah Bagshaw wasn't the main topic of conversation during his recent chat with Jennifer Lawrence. Instead of talking about the love of his live with J Law, they talked about their shared love of Bravo's Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Although Redmayne may not have gotten the chance to hobnob with the biggest names in Hollywood before now, Eddie has been rubbing elbows with of the most famous men in Britain since he was a boy. Redmayne recently revealed in one interview that he and heir to the empire, Prince William, even played rugby when they were in school together.
You might think that spending all that time playing Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything would have left Eddie Redmayne with an erudite air about him, but 33-year-old breakout star didn't seem at all out of place contemplating the mysteries of reality television instead of the universe.
When the conversation with Jennifer Lawrence in Interview magazine turned to Bravo programing, Eddie was quick to admit that he couldn't live without the high drama of Brandi Glanville and Lisa Vanderpump in his life(via People):
"I come home from trying to pretend to know about astronomy and physics all day and turn on The Real Housewives.
"I've been a closet lover of faux-reality TV since The Hills...It's bad.
"I can't believe the intricacies of their lives...I want to know how much of it's a sham, how much of it is directed."
While Eddie may love that classless banter that Bravo and networks like it offer to ease his number cluttered mind, you shouldn't think that Redmayne doesn't know how to behave around Hollywood's uber-cultured elite.
During new interview in the latest February 2, issue of OK! Magazine, Eddie revealed that he and Prince William actually went to school together way back in the day at Eaton:
"We were on the same rugby team....He's a wonderful man.
"I always felt sorry for him because everyone wanted to tackle the future king of England...He took all the hits!"
Perhaps Eddie doesn't know that now that he is famous in America, he doesn't have to kowtow to those people ever again.
