Mega Millions Lottery Total Rises Over $200 Million: Check Report Before You Buy Tickets

There was no winner for this week’s Mega Millions lottery drawing, meaning that tonight’s all new game has risen well over the $200 million mark. Check the report below to see just how much you could win, before you buy your tickets.

The official Mega Millions lottery website is reporting on the big prize, writing:

“For only the ninth time in the past five years, the Mega Millions jackpot has surged well past the $200 million mark, with an estimated $221 million prize ($144 million cash option) on tap for the next drawing on Friday, January 9. No ticket matched all six numbers drawn on January 6 – the white balls 12, 20, 27, 38 and 75, plus the Mega Ball of 4. One ticket, sold in Minnesota, matched the first five numbers to win $1 million.

“The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won for $326 million in New York on November 4, the eighth largest Mega Millions jackpot in history and the most ever won on a single ticket. All of the larger jackpots have been shared among multiple winning tickets.

“Since Mega Millions began in 2002, there have been a total of 11 jackpots won during the month of January, including the fifth largest jackpot ever ($380 million), split between two winning tickets on January 4, 2011. The jackpot has been won at least once in January every year since 2005.”
